Area Police Agencies Targeting Intoxicated Drivers and Distracted Drivers 

 

The Tippecanoe County Traffic Safety Partnership, consisting of the West Lafayette Police Department, Purdue Police Department, Lafayette Police Department, and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department worked 48 hours of federally funded DUI enforcement patrols and 126 hours of federally funded “Click It or Ticket” enforcement hours during the third quarter of fiscal year 2020.  During the quarter, which consisted of April, May and June, officers stopped over 200 vehicles and made 22 arrests for various misdemeanor and felony charges including DUI, Drug law violations, DWS violations, false informing, and one underage drinking arrest.  In addition, officers issued 34 tickets and 173 warnings for various driving offenses. 


Agencies that participate in this effort are funded by grants through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI).
