At the November 2 Lafayette City Council meeting, the Council approved an ordinance for the financing and construction of a new Public Safety Building and Public Parking Garage on the south side of Columbia Street between 6th and 7th Streets. The ordinance approved a lease between the City of Lafayette Redevelopment Commission and the City of Lafayette Redevelopment Authority to issue its Lease Rental Revenue Bonds in one or more series. The bonds will be to finance the costs of the planning, designing and construction of the new multi-story municipal public safety building of approximately 65,000 square feet with a new parking garage of 500-600 spaces.
