[ARCHIVED] Shooting at the 5-points Intersection

On Friday, January 8th, 2016 at approximately 1:00 am Lafayette Police Officers responded to a report of a man lying in the middle of the 1500 block of South Street, yelling he had been shot. Officers arrived and located the injured man, 19-year-old Chaz Kruger, of Lafayette.

Kruger was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. Kruger’s status is unknown at this time. South Street was closed for a brief period to allow crime scene officers time to safely collect evidence. South Street was re-opened once officers completed the on-scene investigation.

Investigators continue to collect evidence, conduct interviews, and follow up on lead information. Anyone with information about the shooting incident is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
