On May 11th, at approximately 9:30am, the Lafayette Police Department was called to Brady Ln, near Pheasant Run Apartments, in reference to a report of a robbery. Officers located one male that had sustained facial injuries from an altercation. The male reported he had been struck by a baseball bat and property removed from his pockets. He knew the attackers and they were later located in Claystone Apartments. One subject, identified as Sharmeka Gray (29 years old and of Waterloo, IA), was subsequently arrested for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
During the investigation, it was determined that the robbery had occurred at a residence in the 3000-block of Yorktown Ct. A search was obtained for the residence related to the robbery. During this search, in addition to items collected for the robbery investigation, items related to the distribution of drugs was located. A second search warrant was obtained for the drug investigation.
The following items were collected:
- 23 pounds of spice
- 44 of raw material used to manufacture spice
- A small-caliber handgun
- Paraphernalia
- Approximately $6,200 in cash
The following subject was arrested in connection with the narcotics investigation:
- Lawrence Darnell Lucas (31 years old and of Lafayette, IN)
o Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon
o Dealing in a Synthetic Drug
o Maintaining a Common Nuisance
o Possession of a Synthetic Drug
Both subjects were transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
