[ARCHIVED] Weapon Violation at Varsity Clubhouse Bar

Weapon Violation at Varsity Clubhouse Bar

On Saturday, May 22, around 3:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to a report of a man having fired a gunshot into the ceiling at the Varsity Clubhouse bar. Police arrived and were advised the man with the gun had fled the bar on foot. Officers investigated the incident by collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Witnesses stated a man, described as a black male, 5’09, medium build, became angry at closing time because his song had not played on the jukebox. Witnesses reported the man argued with the staff then left, to return a short while later with a gun. The man shot two rounds into the ceiling, before leaving again. There were no injuries reported.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lafayette Police Department at (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
