On July 13th, at approximately 12:31pm, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 350 Teal Rd W. Upon arrival, officers spoke with several witnesses that reported hearing shots being fired and also seeing several subjects fleeing the area. One subject fled in a blue Subaru and another vehicle, described as a silver or gray Pontiac, fled the area eastbound on Teal Rd.
While still speaking with witnesses, officers were advised that a subject had arrived at IU Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, sustained during this incident. The subject was identified as 21-year-old Mason Bean of Lafayette. The wound was not life threatening.
Investigation revealed there was an exchange of gunfire during this incident. One vehicle was identified at the hospital and processed for multiple bullet holes. One firearm used in the incident was also recovered.
The suspect, currently outstanding, is described as a black male in dark clothing, approximately 6’ tall and 170 lbs, wearing a red hat.
