OnSunday, February 5, 2017 at approximately 12:45 AM, Lafayette Police discoveredan overturned vehicle in the 3200 block of Union Street.  Arriving officers located the driver,identified as 27-year-old Keith L. Wilson of Riverdale, IL, fleeing the sceneon foot.  Wilson was apprehended after abrief foot pursuit.  Furtherinvestigation determined that the vehicle involved in the crash had been stolenfrom a business in the 300 block of North Earl Avenue, just prior to the crash.

 

Thevehicle crash snapped a utility pole, which resulted in utility lines falling acrossthe roadway.  The downed lines causeddamage to a Tippecanoe County Ambulance, which was driving through the area momentsafter the crash.  Additionally, multiplevehicles at a nearby automobile dealership were damaged.  Union Street, in the area of the crash, wasclosed for approximately three hours.  Noinjuries were reported from the crash or downed utility lines.

 

Keith L. Wilson was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail  after being arrested for OWI .08% or above, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Auto Theft.
