Stabbing in parking lot near 1740 Salem Street

On March 23rd, around 4:00 pm, the Lafayette Police Department responded a report of a man having been stabbed in the back while in the area of parking lot near 1740 Salem Street. Witnesses reported there had been an earlier argument between the two men involved in this incident prior to the stabbing. The victim was stabbed two times in the back.


Police arrived and spoke to witnesses and gathered case facts and evidence. The reported victim was transported to the hospital and provided a statement to the police. The wounds inflicted by the stabbing were not life threatening. The alleged suspect fled out of a rear apartment window prior to police arriving to the scene.


Police believe the alleged suspect to be 46-year-old Anthony Wayne Richard and are currently seeking tips and lead information to locate Richard for questioning.
