Lafayette Police Crime Prevention Specialist – Shana Wainscott

Today, Shana Wainscott began her position as the first Crime Prevention Specialist in the history of the Lafayette Police Department.  The position was created as a police outreach initiative with support from Mayor Roswarski and the Lafayette Police Department Chief’s office in early 2016.  With the police department at full staff, the Administrative Services division was able to staff one of two openings for Crime Prevention Specialist.  Shana Wainscott was selected to fill the first opening.

Specialist Wainscott will service in a police outreach role at public events, community functions, social media engagements, as well as facilitate crime prevention efforts.   Specialist Wainscott, who is 12-year Army National Guard veteran with two Iraq deployments, is also a nine-year veteran with the Lafayette Police Department and has served as a RAD instructor and a Domestic Violence instructor.

The LPD is excited to have Specialist Wainscott added to the Community Outreach and Crime Prevention unit.
