Suspicious Incident Report

Around 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 18th, officers responded to a suspicious incident compliant at the Melbourne Road and Dearborn Street intersection.  A witness reported to officers a white female, 17 – 18 years old, wearing a green t-shirt and tan shorts was physically coaxed into the back of a passenger car.  The car reportedly then sped away. There were no other witnesses or and no additional information to develop lead information.

Patrol officers and the Street Crimes Unit checked the area and all local police departments have been advised of this information.  The Lafayette Police have not received a missing person report or domestic abuse complaint since this incident was reported.  Police have no information to verify the incident was as an abduction.  Due to the limited information in the compliant, police find it possible the incident observed by the witness may have been a domestic situation or family dispute between a parent and teenager.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at (765) 807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
