Shots Fired Arrests
The Lafayette Police Department investigated two separate incidents of shots fired on the evening of June 24th, which resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
Date: June 24, 2017
At approximately 10:18 PM officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 3800-blk of Burberry Drive North regarding a possible shots fired into an occupied apartment. Upon further investigation it was determined shots were fired into two separate apartments. No one was injured. Further investigation found that the shots had been fired from an apartment in the 3900-blk of Burberry Drive, striking the apartments across the pond. Officers conducted an investigation and were able to collect evidence and case facts to make arrests.
Daniel K. Wininger (23) of Lafayette was arrested for Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Visiting a Common Nuisance, and Reckless Possession of Paraphernalia.
Nicholas W. Teague (31) of Lafayette was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Reckless Possession of Paraphernalia. Both Wininger and Teague were transported and booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail.
Date: June 25th, 2017
In an unrelated event, during the early morning hours of June 25th, at approximately 2:10 am, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at the Biltmore Tap Room on South 4th Street. A reported victim stated he and another bar patron got into verbal altercation inside the bar. The reported victim said as he was leaving the alleged suspect confronted him again in the parking lot and shot at him.
Police later located the alleged suspect, Kelvin Smith-Dalton (22) of Lafayette. Smith-Dalton was arrested for Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Law Enforcement and OWI. Smith-Dalton was transported and booked into the Tippecanoe county Jail.
