Trinity Life Hygiene Drive
During the month of August the Lafayette Police Department partnered with the Trinity Life Ministry to meet some of the basic physical needs of the men in Trinity's addiction recovery program. The program is assisting a record number of men and is currently exploring opportunities in the local area to expand the residential program.
In order to better meet the needs of program participants, Trinity Life Ministry recently transitioned to a mandatory 12 month residential program. Programming includes, but is not limited to targeting the root causes of addiction and relapse, peer to peer counseling, mentoring, job training, and life skills development.
With the generous support of our community we were able to collect approximately 300 pounds of personal hygiene items. The Lafayette Police Department and Trinity Life Mission would like to thank everyone that donated.
Several of the program participants expressed the impact that this has had on their lives:
- "This has helped me to see the police as friends rather than foes"
- "It makes me feel good knowing people truly care"
- "Wow, people give without expecting anything in return"
- "You have no idea what this means"
- This helps bridge the gap between men who have been arrested and the police"
Thank You,
Sergeant Matt Gard
