Fourth Quarter of 2017

 

Sergeant Will Carpenter of the Lafayette Police Department announced today that the Tippecanoe County Traffic Safety Partnership, consisting of the West Lafayette Police Department, Purdue Police Department, Lafayette Police Department, and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department worked a total of 239 hours of the federally funded DUI enforcement patrols during the months of July, September, and October.  During these three months, officers stopped 318 vehicles, made 31 arrests for offenses including misdemeanor and felony DUI, various misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses, and driving while suspended.  Officer also issued 355 tickets and warnings. 


Throughout the rest of 2017, additional federally funded overtime patrols will be utilized to crack down on impaired drivers. Agencies that participate in this effort are funded by grants through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI).
