[ARCHIVED] Projects and Progress - November 2017

Pouring new curbs on Sagamore Parkway

The sights and sounds of progress can be seen all over Lafayette. From paving and sidewalks to utility infrastructure and placemaking projects, everything matters when it comes to maintaining and growing a vibrant, sustainable city. The vast amount of improvement and development projects taking place is a direct result of the commitment we have for making sure our community thrives. Check out a few of the larger initiatives currently underway:

  • Columbia and South Streets: repaving, sidewalk replacement, handicap accessibility improvements
  • Final phase of #RestoreSagamore continues on Sagamore Parkway: enhanced lighting, new pavement and travel routes improve drivability and safety, along with sidewalks, trails, crosswalks and more
  • Extensive work with the Combined Sewer Overflow Long Term Control Plan (CSO LTCP) continues with the Brown Street Sewer Project and Canal Road CSO storage tank construction: improved infrastructure allows for increased capacity and environmental sustainability
  • Wabash River Promenade continues to take shape in preparation for a final reveal and celebration in Spring 2018: highlights downtown as a destination and provides measurable growth for our urban core
  • Memorial Island enhancements: Phase 1 is making a huge impact by transforming this beloved area of Columbian Park into an impressive place of pride and remembrance

Evolvement of this magnitude takes time. We thank our residents and visitors for understanding the breadth of our improvements and the time it takes to complete projects and enhancements of this scope. We thank our hard-working staff and project partners for their dedication and support, as well as their pledge to always be mindful of community needs and financial impact. Whether it be streets or services, parks or projects, our city is always moving forward. #Progress
