Traffic Stop – Drug Arrest
On the evening of January 11, at around 9:15 pm, a Lafayette Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of New York Street, wherein the driver fled the vehicle. The officer chased the driver on foot and apprehended the man a within a few blocks. The man was identified as Christopher J. Stichter (26) of Lafayette. Stichter was found to have an outstanding writ of attachment and an outstanding arrest warrant. Stichter was transported to the Tippecanoe County jail.
Officers arrived in the area to assist and remain on scene to secure the vehicle. A search was conducted on the suspect vehicle and officers located drug paraphernalia and over 160 grams of a crystal-like substance, which later field tested positive for methamphetamine. Stichter was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. The case will be turned over to the Tippecanoe County Prosecutors office to review for charges.
