[ARCHIVED] Shots Fired Arrest

On the above date, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Lafayette Police Department received several calls regarding shots being fired in the 1000-block of Heath St.  Officers arrived on scene and observed evidence of shots fired in the area, including a house which had been struck in the 1000-block of N 7th St.  No occupants were injured during the incident.  Officers also received a description of a suspect vehicle observed leaving the area.


A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle near the corner of North 7th Street and Hartford Street, and made contact at a nearby residence.  After obtaining search warrants for the residence and vehicle, officers searched both and located further evidence, including three stolen firearms.  Two suspects were arrested for the following:


Lawrence Reice Bennett (20 years old and of Lafayette, IN)

Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon

Carrying a Handgun without a License

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Marijuana

Possession of Paraphernalia

Disorderly Conduct


Malik Deangelo Adams (20 years old and of Lafayette, IN)

Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon

Carrying a Handgun without a License

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Marijuana
