At 10:00 a.m. on April 23, 2016, the Columbian Park Zoo will open to the public for the season.
“We’re thrilled to be opening for 2016,” said Zoo Director Dana Rhodes. “This year’s opening has been highly anticipated by the Greater Lafayette community. We also have several new Bennett’s wallaby joeys hopping around in the Wallaby Walkabout exhibit, which is a great way to kick off the new season.”
The Kiwanis EdZOOcation Station is new for 2016, providing a platform for small shows and other visitor experiences. The Station is located adjacent to the I.U. Health Arnett Family Farm. These opportunities will debut Memorial Day weekend and continue daily through mid-August, weather permitting. A daily schedule of these visitor experiences will be posted at the Zoo Entry Plaza. The Columbian Park Express train will also be running starting April 23, as weather permits. Tickets can be purchased in the Zoo gift shop.
The Zoo will be open 7 days a week, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until Memorial Day weekend when it will transition to summer hours.
