What to Expect
The day begins with the written exam, followed by the Physical Assessment Test. If applicants pass both tests, they will be invited to an interview with commanders from the Lafayette Police Department. Each passing applicant will pick a time slot for their interview. The interviews begin after the lunch break, with time slots starting at 12:45 p.m. and typically ending by 5 p.m., depending on the number of applicants being interviewed. The interview is formal, so business attire is required. Applicants who pass the interview and meet all requirements will be scheduled for a polygraph examination on a different date.
What to Bring
The day can be long, with an extended break between testing and some applicants' interviews. During the break, applicants can leave and return for their scheduled interview. We encourage applicants to bring water or a drink, headphones or earbuds for the run, business attire to change into, a towel, and personal hygiene products. For our out-of-town applicants, there will be an area to change and shower.
