Partners & Partnerships

Sustainability work doesn’t happen in a vacuum — it takes a community.

The Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan (GLCAP) is built on collaboration. City government can set goals and lead programs, but delivering meaningful, equitable, and lasting change requires partnerships across the public, private, academic, and nonprofit sectors, as well as from community members themselves.

Partners

These are the kinds of partners we work with or seek to engage as part of GLCAP implementation:

Government & Public Agencies

  • City of Lafayette — departments that coordinate planning, public works, parks, and more.
  • City of West Lafayette — cross-river collaboration, joint project development, and knowledge sharing.
  • Tippecanoe County — county-level coordination, land use, and emergency planning.
  • Regional transit & transportation agencies — for public transit, active-transportation corridors, and regional planning.

Academic & Research Institutions

  • Purdue University & Indiana University — research, technical expertise, student projects, and workforce development.
  • Purdue Extension (Tippecanoe County) — community education and outreach.

Utilities & Infrastructure Providers

  • Local electric and gas utilities — for grid planning, demand response, electrification programs, and rebate administration.
  • Lafayette Renew and other water/wastewater partners — for energy efficiency and materials-management coordination.

Business & Economic Partners

  • Greater Lafayette Commerce — to engage employers, support green business practices, and attract investment.
  • Local businesses and commercial property owners — pilot projects, workplace programs, and supply-chain improvements.

Community, Nonprofit & Civic Organizations

  • Local environmental and community groups — for project co-design, volunteer mobilization, and outreach.
  • Faith-based organizations, neighborhood associations, and community centers — to ensure equitable participation and reach underserved residents.

Workforce, Labor & Trade Organizations

  • Trade unions, contractors, and workforce training programs — to scale up local capacity for energy retrofits, EV charging installation, heat-pump work, and solar deployment.

Schools, K–12 & Youth Organizations

  • School districts and after-school programs — for curriculum, facilities efficiency projects, and youth engagement.

State & Federal Partners

  • Indiana agencies and federal programs — funding, technical assistance, and regulatory alignment that enable local projects.
